Im black so i have curly hair. When i comb my hair there are lil white flakes on my hair. what is it, where does it come from, and how can i get rid of it.

As everyone else said, it is dandruff which as they also said is dead skin cells flaking off. A good dandruff shampoo %26amp; conditioner usually help keep it under controll. If not, you may want to see a dermatologist for good skin care advice. You will not "cure it" but can get/keep it under controll with the correct care. Remember, since your body sheds skin cells all the time, it is natural. Still if your skin gets too dry, the dandruff gets too heavy %26amp; needs treatment. I have even had it in my eyebrows %26amp; I'm a blond. There is a condition called seborhea dermatitis that can cause this. Some folks will say "but that means too oily". It usually does but it also means that the dead skin cells sometimes stack up abnormally over the oil glands %26amp; sheds off as heavy dandruff. I would say get a shampoo and conditioner that is made to help problems like this. Also if it gets worse or doesn't get any better go to a dermatologist and get it checked out. They should be able to help you.

It is your scalp peeling off. Kinda gross, but it is like dandruff. I see it all the time. I guess you can just pick it out!

Does'nt matter what your skin color happens to be when it comes to dry scalp or dandruf. The other would be head lice but i doubt that is what it is. Just get a shampoo for dry scalp and dandruff or stop using something that may be drying your scalp out. :)

Contrary to what everyone else is saying, I'm going to take a guess and say it isn't dandruff. Do you use hair products like gel, etc. at all? It could be dried up and flaking off your hair when you comb it.

Try not using products in your hair for a couple of days if this is the case, and see if it helps. If there's still white stuff, then it's probably dry scalp (dandruff).

dandruff use a special shampoo, but not the nutrogena tar one.. it makes ur hair smell like poop after for a while:)

Or it could be sorritus not sure on the spelling, but you should go to your local doctor if the dandruff treatment doesn't work. Dandruff is only mild but sorritus is more clumpy and really lumpy.
