I got highlights this year and I think I have hair breakage. I have smaller shorter hairs with littl

ends on them and some have split ends. How do I treat it without cutting all my hair off? Even if I get a trim it won't even touch these hairs because they are shorter than the actual lenth. I tried to trim them off by skimming the scissors over the surface but it is impossible to get them all. I am worried that they will continue to grow up my hair shaft and ruin the good hair growing in. Is there anything I can do about this?

Just leave it alone if it's not that noticeable, and use lots of conditioner.

I've had this happen before so don't stress out. It won't ruin the rest of your hair. It will just have to grow out.

Some of it may break off but even this is normal. I wouldn't color it again for a while though, give your hair a chance to rest without stress.

What probably happened was that your hair was over treated with bleach and the color that was added could not hold on very well, thus it became colorless and brittle.

There only way for damage control is to get your hair trimmed a little shorter, you don't have to cut it very short, because you will still just have brittle short hair. Just shape it up with a pretty hair cut and do serious investing in hair treatment products, I would recommend Redken or Kerastase hair products. Gradually the brittle ones will just break off and seal up but you will prevent and save a few locks of them which have not started to split yet, and your hair will get better and longer in about six months as long as you do more smoothing treatments and minimal heat or chemical processing. Another method to do with the treatment is to add on a darker colour to the highlights and that will thicken up the shaft of the hair and make them less brittle and worrying.
